Lightning J
Hi, I'm Jonathon (Lightning J). I've been Dj-ing since 1996, with my Uncle Frank. He owns his own Dj company called, The Entertainment Caterers. I started going to car shows with him, learning the basics. After a couple of weeks he let me start running the cds. Later I started going with him to bigger events, such as weddings, school dances, and other parties, learning more about the profession.
We worked together until around 1998. He couldn't really use me anymore because I couldn't talk on the mic which meant that I couldn't do gigs on my own.
So I was done Dj-ing for a few years.
In 2001 my mom got married, and
I bought some lighting equipment for her wedding reception. A couple months
later I graduated.
David and I have been friends since my 8th grade year. We lost contact for a few years, but we reunited my senior year. David started a rap group called 2 Hot Entertainment. Later he turned it into a free-lance Dj co. using other people's equipment.
In 2002 I lent David the money to get his first turntables, and we decided to work together; he would play the music, and I would do the lighting. He graduated and we worked together and did his open house. I had also brought a portable cd player and an old mixer that I had, and we combined to dj his open house.
Around September 2002, we had a long walk and discussed the future of the company. After a pretty in depth conversation we decided to combine everything we had and make one Disc Jockey company with lighting. We worked out some small bugs and worked together and created "2 Hot Music". We had our first "official" gig on Feb. 14, 2003, for Lakeside High School. We have had open houses, weddings, other school dances, and private parties since then. I have also worked on my mic phobia and have pretty much overcome it.
